SAN MATEO FL -- Twenty-three miles from Bunnell, near a bend in State Road 100 and almost hidden by a clump of oak trees, is a weathered, wooden roadside stand painted Florida-postcard orange.

There's been a stand there for a long time. Since 1946 to be exact. And it's a monument to the proposition that people are basically good.

The honey collection campaign of 2010 has been the worst in the last 25 years, as explained beekeeping responsible for COAG, Lorenzo Ruiz. Agricultural association ranged from 35 to 40 percent drop in production in the province against a normal year.

The loss of many of our honeybees due to Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) begs the question:  How are our crops and native plants being pollinated?  As the maturity of one-third of our food crop species requires movement of pollen by insects or other creatures, this is an important question.
